Housing

“Our Homes. Our Communities. Our Future. The American dream isn’t for sale!” ~ Kevin McClellan

Housing Is for Families—Not Wall Street

Housing is a basic human necessity, not a financial instrument for hedge funds and corporate speculators. Over the past decade, private equity firms, Wall Street investors, and even corrupt NGOs have quietly bought up hundreds of thousands of single-family homes across America. They’ve turned starter homes into rental portfolios, driven up prices, and shut working families out of homeownership.

This isn’t a free market—it’s a rigged one. When trillion-dollar firms compete against teachers, police officers, nurses, and young families for the same homes, everyday Americans never had a fair shot. These corporations can overbid, pay in cash, and hold properties off the market, inflating prices while extracting rent from communities that once thrived on local ownership.

Under my plan, corporate landlords will be banned from owning single-family homes. Private equity firms, Wall Street investors, and large nonprofit housing speculators will be required to divest 25% of their residential holdings every year until they are completely out of the single-family housing market. Those homes will be sold back into the market with priority given to owner-occupants, first-time homebuyers, veterans, and local families.

We will also end the tax advantages and regulatory loopholes that reward corporate landlords for hoarding housing. No more preferential treatment for Wall Street while families struggle to compete. Local communities—not corporate balance sheets—should control their neighborhoods.

This plan will increase housing supply for families, bring down prices, stabilize communities, and restore the American Dream of homeownership. Homes should build families and futures—not hedge fund profits.
