We send men and women to serve this country. Then we bring them home and leave them on their own. That’s not honor. That’s abandonment. Veterans aren’t broken. They’re trained, disciplined heroes who are driven by purpose.

What’s missing isn’t strength —it’s mission.

Too many veterans come home feeling disconnected and forgotten, and the results are devastating. Suicide rates remain unacceptable, and the systems meant to help continue to fail. Instead of sidelining veterans, we should put them back where they belong — protecting their communities.

I support paid service pathways that allow veterans to continue serving in meaningful roles, including:

• school and campus safety

• emergency response and disaster recovery

• infrastructure and critical facility protection

• youth mentorship and leadership development
