Criminal Justice
“One Standard. One System. No Safe Havens. Tough on Violent Crime. Smart on Justice. Equal Protection Everywhere..” ~ Kevin McClellan
One Standard. One System. No Safe Havens.
America deserves a justice system that protects the innocent, punishes the guilty, and restores lives where possible. Our approach is tough on violent crime, smart on rehabilitation, and fair across every state and community.
1) Professional Policing Through Better Pay and Standards
We will increase police compensation to attract higher-quality candidates and reduce turnover and misconduct. Research shows that better pay expands applicant pools, allowing departments to be more selective and professional. This means better-trained officers, fewer complaints, and stronger trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
2) Rehabilitation That Works: Job Training in Jails and Prisons
We will expand vocational training, education, and work programs for incarcerated individuals. These programs have strong empirical support for reducing recidivism and increasing post-release employment. Credentials must be recognized by employers and linked to real job placement after release. Rehabilitation is not leniency—it is a proven crime-reduction strategy.
3) Tough on Violent Crime, Smarter on Victimless Crime
Violent crimes deserve harsher penalties and firm enforcement. Victimless crimes should carry softer penalties focused on treatment, accountability, and reintegration rather than endless incarceration. Justice must be proportional, rational, and effective.
4) Zero Tolerance for Crimes Against Children
We support the harshest penalties for child sex crimes, including the death penalty for the most extreme offenses. Crimes involving children, trafficking, sexual exploitation, violent abuse, and repeat offenders must be met with absolute seriousness and permanent consequences.
5) One Standard. One System. No Safe Havens.
Criminals should never escape justice by crossing a state line. Major crimes must be treated as major crimes everywhere—not handled differently based on zip code, politics, or bureaucracy. America will have one national standard for prosecuting the most serious offenses.
