We are facing a quiet crisis. Too many veterans return home after serving their country only to feel forgotten, isolated, and disconnected from purpose. The result is heartbreaking: veteran suicide rates remain unacceptably high, and the systems meant to help too often fail them.

FAFO believes this is not a lack of strength — it is a lack of mission. Veterans are not broken. They are trained, disciplined, and deeply committed to service. Instead of sidelining them, we should bring them back into the mission of protecting our nation — here at home.

I support creating paid national service pathways that allow veterans to continue serving in meaningful roles, including:

• School and campus safety professionals

• Community protection and emergency response teams

• Disaster preparedness and recovery units

• Infrastructure and critical facility protection

• Youth mentorship and leadership development

Protecting children and communities gives veterans a renewed sense of mission — and gives families peace of mind.
